The ZENIFEL® gel diffuser works by releasing feline facial pheromones and catnip into the environment, which mimic natural calming scents that help soothe and comfort cats.
Catnip acts on cats through a chemical compound called nepetalactone, which stimulates cats' olfactory receptors. Catnip causes some cats to exhibit behaviors of rubbing and relaxation. When exposed to catnip, these cats may rub their head, face, or body against the plant. This behavior is often associated with a feeling of pleasure or comfort. After this rubbing phase, some cats may also become calm and relaxed, resting near the catnip or assuming a quieter posture.

Yes, you can easily interrupt the use of Zenifel® gel diffuser by changing the lid back to the plain one (without holes) to stop the diffusion of the calming ingredients. When you're ready to resume the diffusion, just change the lid again by using the one with the holes to enjoy the benefits of Zenifel®.
